Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Mason City, with the Rev. Dennis Cahill officiating. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St. A scriptural wake will be held at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials may be given in his memory to the North Iowa Humane Society. William was born Nov. 3, 1959, in Sioux City, the son of Ted Lee and Julie (Hofer) Young. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1978 and the attended North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City. He was employed in building industry sales. After living in Indianola, he moved to rural Clear Lake in 1996 to work in farm management. He loved the outdoors, his horses and dogs. He is survived by his parents, Ted and Julie Young of Mason City; a sister, Nancy Jackson and her Husband , Bill of Houston, Texas; a niece, Katie Elizabeth Hofer Jackson of Houston, Texas. Three cousins, Kathy Palmer of Tallahassee, Fla., Vickie Kelly of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Terry Arons of Cedar Rapids; and one aunt, Jacque Young-Ecof of Leesburg, Fla. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Victor Young and Hester Young Ragsdale, and William and Garnet Hofer.
