Mr. Hicks was born on April 9, 1939, in Florence County, a son of the late Boyd L. Hicks and Effie Alice Powell Hicks. He was retired from Southern States Coop, Inc. and was a long time member of Friendfield Pentecostal Holiness Church, where he was a former Sunday school teacher and youth choir director. He was formerly married to the late Lorraine Oakley Hicks. Survivors include his daughters, Nancy (Jerry) Lynch of Coward and Rhonda (Myles) Odom of Scranton; one granddaughter, Kaylee Owens; three step grandchildren Corey Jordan, Baleigh Odom and Garett Lee; his brother, James "Bud" Hicks of Scranton; his sisters, Sue (Frank) Bailey of Scranton and Jessie Creel of Florence; a special friend, Marie Miles of Pamplico; his sister-in-law, Annie Jo Hicks of Johnsonville; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Hicks was predeceased by brothers Herman "Jack" (Lessie) Hicks and William "Bill" Hicks; sisters, Bertie (Albert) Powell and Mary Alice Hicks; and a brother-in-law Hubert Creel. The family would like to express their thanks to Commander Nursing Center and staff of the west wing for their loving care and kindness.
