Death however, was unexpected and comes as a great surprise to the immediate family. Mr. Axe had been employed during the day and had been complimenting himself upon his health. Late Saturday evening he lay down to rest while the remaining members of the family were visiting at the home of the son Harry next door to the Axe residence. Upon returning to the home about 15 minutes later, the family entered the room to find the husband and father dead. A Physician was immediately summoned, and upon his arrival it was found that life was extinct, he attributing the cause of death to heart trouble. The deceased was born in Hagerstown, Ind. Jan. 22, 1848. The son of William and Mary Axe. His father died at an early age and the lad removed to this city with his mother when a small child, and has resided here ever since. He was united in marriage to Samantha Kimmel of this city, and the following children born to this union, survive with the wife, Mrs. Clifford Lessond, of this city. Harry, of this city, Mercy Hull, of Fort Wayne and Nellie McCune, of Chicago. The funeral services will be held from the late home on Mill Street Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Charles Little officiating. Interment will be made in Falls Cemetery.
