Funeral services were held From St. Luke's M.E. Church at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, July 13 in of Rev. E.S. Weary of the Ulysses Methodist church. A male quartet, M.A. Hahn, L.B. Fuller, W.S. Rosenstock and Guy Walling, sang "Abide With Me" and "Rock of Ages," and Mr. Fuller sang "The City Foursquare" as a solo. Clarence Buckley, Thomas Bierle, Ed Jones, Edgar Mahlin, Walter Talbot and J. VanMatre were pallbearers. Interment was in the David City cemetery. The Modern Woodman lodge of which Mr. Boyers was a member, attended the funeral as an organization. Those in attendance at the funeral from away were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ritchie from Sumner, Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Stearns and daughter, Miss Dorothy from Kearney, Mr. and Mrs. O.A. Lemon from York, Mr. and Mrs. Harold From from Chappell, Mr. and Mrs. Simon Kilgore and children from Raymond, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Fortna and children from Octavia, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kilgore and daughter, Miss Elsie, from Rising City and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jakl, Mr. and Mrs. Amos Kilgore and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Kilgore and children from Ulysses. William Washington Boyers was born near Valpraiso on January 18, 1873, the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Benson Boyers. With his parents he moved to Butler County in 1883, and had lived in this county ever since, following the occupations of farmer and machinist, living in the Ware vicinity for number of years prior to moving to the farm west of David City in 1906. He was in his 54th year at the time of his death. On February 10th, 1895, he was united in marriage to Sadie Ann Kilgore at Brainard. To them were born five chidren, Gretta, Lee, Harry, Pearl and Bessie, who with their mother survive. Mr. Boyers also leaves his mothe and seven sisters. The sisters are Mrs. Frank Ritchie of Sumner, Mrs. W.J. Anderson of David City, Mrs. R.J. Stearns of Kearney, Mrs. O.A. Lemon of York, Miss Augusta Boyers of David City, Mrs. D.T. Webb of Valier, Mont., and Mrs. R.D Fuller of Glendale, Calif. A kindly man, industrious and home-loving, Mr. Boyers had made many friends during his lifetime. He was member of the Methodist church. The large attendance at the funeral attested to the high esteem in which he was held.
