Cullers is Crushed to Death in Tragic Mishap The body of William W Cullers, 33, well known farmer of the Bergton section, was found last Wednesday morning at 5 o’clock at the foot of an embankment along the Bennetts Run Road, near Bergton where his truck plunged last Tuesday night. Cullers was found with the cab of the pickup truck he had been driving across his chest. He was believed to have been dead about 5 hours. Death was said to have been instantaneous. The Brocks Gap farmer was said to have been visiting his neighbor, Perry Smith, who lives a short distance west of him and was returning home when the soft shoulder of the road gave way, hurling his machine over the bank. It was Perry Smith who found the body at the foot of the embankment. Cullers, who is a son of Mrs Angeline Snyder Cullers and the late William F Cullers, was born April 26, 1906 at Bergton and spent his entire life in that section. Eight years ago he was united in marriage with Miss Goldie Ketterman, near Mathias, who survives him, and all six children who were still at home, three sisters, Margaret, Catherine, and Nellie, all of Maryland, and two brothers, Lory Cullers of Mathias, WV, and Jesse R. Cullers of MD. Funeral services were held Friday morning at Cullers Run School House at Mathias, WV, by Rev Charles Carr. Burial was in Cullers Cemetery at Mathias, WV. Rev Carr was one of the ministers who held church services at the Bennetts Run Schoolhouse in the 1930s and 1940s. Contributor: kimmie925
