Mr. Samples had been complaining some for several days prior to his death, though going about as usual, and it was not until Friday, June 14th, that he went to bed and summoned his physician. Read More	Highland Recorder July 21, 1933 After a brief illness William Wesley Samples, died at his home on Strait Creek, Friday evening at seven o'clock. Age 73 years, 4 months and 9 days. Mr. Samples had been complaining some for several days prior to his death, though going about as usual, and it was not until Friday, June 14th, that he went to bed and summoned his physician. He had apparently been sleeping when the end came. Mr. Samples was a son of the late Elijah and Harriet Pullin Samples, and spent practically all his life in the same community in which he died. He is survived by three brothers and one sister, John H. Samples and Isaac H. Samples of the same neighborhood, and James H. Samples of Goshen, Va., and Mrs. Sarah E. Blagg, of Monterey. Mr. Samples was united in marriage to Jessie H. Wilson, Nov, 9, 1898, and to this union five children survive, Miss Gladys, of Letterman General Hospital, San Francisco, Calif., Ray and Guy of Washington, D. C., and Miss Mary Bess and Leo at home. All the children were able to be present at the funeral except the former. Mr. Samples had been engaged In farming the greater part of his life, near where he was born, and enjoyed a large acquaintances throughout this and adjoining counties. He was a life-long member of the M. E. Church, South, and held various positions in the Sunday School and Church. He also found time to visit the sick of his community, offering words of comfort. He was a member of Highland Lodge No. 110, A.F. and A. M. for 37 years and was a regular attendant, very seldom missing a meeting, unless by sickness in his home. Mr. Samples was a member of the Kingdom Builders, an evangelistic organization, and was faithful, and was never known to refuse or offer an excuse to help in his Master's services or bear testimony of His love. The funeral services were held in Seybert Chapel of which he was a member, on Sunday morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by Revs, F. L. Morrison and C. A. Munsey, in the presence of a large crowd of relatives and friends. The burial service was in charge of the Masonic Lodge, and his body laid to rest in the cemetery nearby.
