Description	:	WM. WESTECOTT: On Wednesday, Nov. 26th, there passed away one of Melancthon's oldest and highly esteemed residents, in the person of William Westecott, in his 94th year. Although feeling indisposed for some time prior to his death, the end came suddenly, but peacefully. The late Mr. Westecott was born in 1854, near what was then known Little York. WESTECOTT: On Wednesday, Nov. 26th, there passed away one of Melancthon's oldest and highly esteemed residents, in the person of William Westecott, in his 94th year. Although feeling indisposed for some time prior to his death, the end came suddenly, but peacefully. The late Mr. Westecott was born in 1854, near what was then known Little York. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Westecott. He came as a small child with his parents to the 4th line, lot 10, Melancthon, where he grew to manhood. In 1877 he married Mary Jane McCleary, who predeceased him in 1928. After their marriage they went to Manitoulin Island, where they resided for a few years, returning again to Melancthon, where he spent the remainder of his lifetime. Their family consisted of 8 children, six of whom survive: Mrs. George Kitching (Grace), Salem; Mrs. Gertie Kitchen, Elora; Gordon, of St. Thomas; Richard of Honeywood; Rita and Andrew, at home. Joseph Westecott, of Redickville, is the only surviving brother. The funeral was held in Shelburne, on Saturday, Nov. 29th, from the Gamble Funeral Parlors, the service being conducted by Rev. J. W. Witzel, of Honeywood United Church. Interment was made in Shelburne Mortuary. The pallbearers were: Wm. Wilson, Stafford and Leslie Bell, Howard Proctor, Andrew Hamilton, and Sid Stinson. The beautiful floral tributes gave evidence of the high esteem in which the late Mr. Westecott was held. They were from Andrew and Reta, Mr. and Mrs. George Kitching and family, Mrs. Gertie Kitchen and family, Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Westecott, and Westecott and Douglas, Joseph Westecott and the Fachnie family, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Stinson, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Proctor, Mr. and Mrs. A. Hamilton, Redickville W. A. The flowerbearers were: Harry Service, Alfred Jamieson, Jimmie Lewin, Howard Ritchie, Wm. and Mitchell Winters, Lloyd Kitchen.
