Quinn, whose illness was reported in our last issue died at his home on the Pocomoke river in this city on Friday night, August the 14th, aged 70 years. Mr. Quinn was ill but five days his disease being stomach trouble. He was one of the best known men of our midst. For years he had been a Justice of the Peace and as a matter of course had done business with many of our people. He was a man well versed in the law and his decisions generally stood the test of the higher courts. He had been in poor health for some time and when his last attack struck him he was in such a weak condition that from the start his family and physician feared the results and his death was not such a surprise. Mr. Quinn was born in Somerset county, near Pocomoke, April 27, 1838. His father was John W. Quinn and his grandfather was Rev. William Quinn, one of the most prominent members of the Methodist Episcopal Conference, at that time known as the Philadelphia Conference. When quite a youth the deceased came to Pocomoke as a clerk, and afterward engaged in the mercantile business for himself. In 1859 he was married to the daughter of William J. S. Clarke, who was one of the most progressive men on the peninsula. He is survived by a widow and four children—Lorie C. Quinn, proprietor of the Crisfield Times and a member of the last House of Delegates from Somerset county; William S. Quinn, also of Crisfield; Mrs. John W. Allen and Mrs. Granville A. Adams, of Pocomoke City. Funeral services were held at his late residence on Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Adam Stengle, Superintendent of the Salisbury District of the Wilmington Conference. A number of persons were present. Interment was made in the Methodist Episcopal Cemetery.
