William Hein was born February 7, 1920 to Fred W. and Lena E. (Kowalke) Hein in Polk County Wisconsin near Turtle Lake. At the age of three, Willie moved with his family from a farm near Cumberland, Wisconsin to a farm in Beadle County. Willie was confirmed in St. John's Lutheran Church in Wolsey in 1935. He attended school in Wolsey and in Vernon Township. During his adult life he farmed with his father in Vernon Township until they moved to Huron in 1982. After moving to Huron, Willie was the caretaker for his parents, even when they entered the Huron Nursing Home. After the death of his parents, Willie volunteered at the nursing home by helping residents with games, taking them to the barber, wheeling them to the dining room and lending a helping hand wherever he was needed. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Vern Hein and his sister, Helen Palmer. Grateful for having shared his life are his brother Richard and his wife Minnie Hein, of Wolsey; three sisters, Esther Ross, of Volga, Burdette and her husband Robert Meyer, of Yankton, and Lila Morse, of Pierre; and a sister-in-law, Lonabelle Hein, of Huron.
