Description	:	William ?Bill? Jackson of Belpre died at the age of 89 at Marietta Care Center, Marietta. He was born in Canaanville, Ohio, the son of the late George and Mary McCormick Jackson. He was a graduate of Rome-Canaan High School, Stewart, Ohio, and a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Force as a glider pilot. He was a graduate of Rome-Canaan High School, Stewart, Ohio, and a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Force as a glider pilot. He completed four missions in the Normandy Invasion and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Canaanville Methodist Church, an associate member of the Belpre Congregational Church and attended White?s Chapel Church at Coolville, Ohio. He was a 55-year member of Savannah Masonic Lodge 466 F&AM, Guysville, Ohio; a life member of the K.T. Crossen Post 21 American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3477 of Athens, Ohio; and a member of the Senior Citizens of Belpre. He was a dedicated employee of DuPont as a supervisor with 32 years of service. Bill is survived by his wife, Phyllis Channell Johnson Jackson of 60 years of marriage; one son, Phillip Johnson and wife, Judy, of Galisteo, N.M.; one daughter, Keawana Hennings of Frederick, Md.; and one grandson, Kody Johnson of Seattle, Wash.; a sister-in-law, Erma Channell Cale of Belpre; several nieces and nephews; and many good friends and neighbors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph, Robert, George and Richard Jackson, and one sister, Mary Jackson Danhauer. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home in Athens, Ohio, with the Pastor David Cogar officiating. Friends may call from 10 a.m. Tuesday until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery, Hebbardsville, Ohio. Savannah Lodge 466 F&AM will hold services at the cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by K.T. Crossen Post 21 American Legion, VFW Post 3477 and VFW Post 9893 Honor Guards at the cemetery.
