Holechek Funeral Home of Oshkosh was in charge of arrangements. Bud was born August 16, 1902 in Lewellen to James Knox and Ella (Taylor) Bradley. He grew up in Lewellen, attending school there, and then worked with his father as a blacksmith and cabinet maker. Bud was drafted early during World War II, September 1, 1942. He received his training as an armorer at Ft. Bliss, Texas. He received a medical discharge in March of 1943 and returned to Nebraska where he worked as a B-24 bomber electrician until the end of the war. He was married for a short time following the war, and built a home in Lewellen, where he resided until his death. Bud worked as a surveyor, cabinet maker, electrician and a gunsmith over the years, until a broken hip forced his retirement. Bud was a man of many accomplishments. Along with being a carpenter, blacksmith and electrician, he built guns and cameras, was an avid ham radio operator and built his own equipment from scratch. He enjoyed his hobby of rock polishing and enjoyed giving samples to his friends. Bud was always very Independent, living alone, doing all of his own work, even mowing grass until he was 93. For many years, he faithfully visited his sister. Stella, when she was in the nursing home. He was a man of few words. He rarely asked for anything, but, if he did, he was always sure to thank you for it. Bud was the fourth of five children. His brothers, Jess and Sam, and sister, Stella, were older and his sister, Eloise, was younger. Bud is survived by several nieces and nephews and was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and sisters.
