Description	:	Willie McLauren Rast, 85, of Bowman, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 7, 2005. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, October 9, at Bowman First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dean Fox and the Rev. Frank Hay officiating. Burial will be in Bowman Memorial Cemetery with military honors. The casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Pallbearers will be Robert Hoover, Victor Calle, Billy Herndon, P. T. Birchmore, Albert Pendarvis and Harry McCormick. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Bowman First Baptist Church. Mr. Rast was born September 28, 1920, in Orangeburg County, the son of the late Charlie B. Rast and the late Hattie Mae Foxworth Rast. He served in the U.S. Army, was a veteran of World War II, and served in the Rhineland Theater. He was a member of Bowman First Baptist Church where he was a deacon and a Sunday School teacher for many years. He was retired from Mayer Industries and was a retired farmer. He was the widower of Loyce Chavis Rast and was preceded in death by a sister, Julia Mae Buck. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Joyce Rast, of North Carolina and Irvin and Nancy Rast, of Georgia; grandchildren, Shannon and her husband Richard Thomas, Jessica Rast, John Rast, and Michael Rast; and extended family and friends.
