After his discharge, he... Read More	* IN LOVING MEMORY OF ** Willie "Nels" Krogh was born on Thursday; May 29, 1924 in Flandreau; Moody County, South Dakota. He was the son of: Lars and Sophie (Peterson) Krogh. His early years were spent in the Flandreau and Eagen areas. Following school, he entered into the military on October 5, 1946. He served in the United States Army, during World War II. He was stationed in Korea. While in the Army he received the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal Japan. He was honorably discharged on March 4, 1948. After his discharge, he attended Iowa State University for a short time attending some agricultural classes and also learned how to shear sheep. On Sunday; January 16, 1955, Nels married Marjorie Willard in Spirit Lake; Dickinson County, Iowa. They lived in Spirit Lake, Iowa and then moved to a farm south of Dickens; Clay County, Iowa where they farmed, before moving to Spencer; Clay County, Iowa over 20 years ago. Nels raised a lot of livestock and went to a lot of farm sales over the years. Nels and Marjorie loved to travel, spending their winters in Laughlin; Clark County, Nevada for the last 30 years. They loved to go to dances at the Eagle's Club. He enjoyed listening to polka music and was a big practical joker. He was mostly proud of his grandkids and their career in the military. Willie "Nels" Krogh, age: 88, passed away on Monday; Februa Iowa. Those left to mourn his passing are: His wife: Marjorie. His sons: Larry (Evelyn) of Spencer, Iowa, David (Betty) of Dickens, Iowa and Gary of Spencer, Iowa. His daughter: Janice and her fiancee: Barry Cobler of Gum Spring; Louisa County, Virginia. His four grandsons: Jason (Brandy) of Ft. Campbell; Christian County, Kentucky, David (Molly) of Mt. Home AFB; Elmore County, Idaho, Gary of Spirit Lake, Iowa and Micheal of Minot AFB; Ward County, North Dakota. His one granddaughter: Amie Ormsby (Max) of Parma; Canyon County, Idaho. His five great grandsons: Sean, Ethan, Blake, Karson and Kolten. Also one great granddaughter: Claire. He was preceded in death by his parents and his one brother. May they rest in peace. May God bless his memory and give strength to those that mourn. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer, Iowa. Funeral services will begin at: 10:30 a.m. on Friday; February 8, 2013. Interment will be at the Riverside Cemetery in Spencer, Iowa with full military honors.
