Description	:	Willis A. Bennett, age 82, of Ida Grove, Iowa and formerly of Schaller, died Saturday, February 20, 1999, at Morningside Rehab & Care Center in Ida Grove. Memorial services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, 1999, at the Schaller United Methodist Church, with Rev. W. Michael Biklen officiating. Inurnment followed in the Schaller Cemetery. The body was cremated. Born August 1, 1916, in Silver Creek Township, Ida County, Iowa, Willis was the son of Frank Earl and Theresa (Hansen) Bennett. He received his education in Schaller, and worked with his parents on the family farm. One May 23, 1944, Willis married Margaret Eileen Reed in Sioux City, Iowa. The couple made their home on the family farm near Schaller in Ida County, where Willis farmed for 45 years. He assisted with the farming operation even after moving into Ida Grove in 1989. Willis was a member of the Schaller United Methodist Church, a 50-year member and Past Master of the Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, a member and Past Patron of the Order of Eastern Star, and was an amateur radio operator with the call letters WAOAMX. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, David. Survivors include his wife, Margaret; three children: Diane & Larry Jensen of Starbuck, MN., Dennis of Schaller, and Cynthia & Paul Dodge of Chersterfield, MO.; 6 grandchildren, two sisters and their spouses, Nina & William Hartgenbush of Schaller and Clarice & Gene Tripp of Ridgeway, MO.
