Description	:	05/30/1996 SHEFFIELD Willis R. Deam, 75, of rural Sheffield, died Wednesday (May 29, 1996) at the Sheffield Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Salem United Methodist Church, Chapin, with the Rev. Robert Beard officiating. Burial will be in Hampton Cemetery, Hampton. Robert Beard officiating. Burial will be in Hampton Cemetery, Hampton. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Grarup Funeral Home, Sheffield. Willis R. Deam was born on May 26, 1921, on the family farm east of Chapin. His parents were Ira and Edna (Thomas) Deam. He attended the Chapin Consolidated School and graduated in 1939. He then attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette for one year. He married Lucille Olk on Dec. 14, 1944, at St. John Evangelical Reformed Church, rural Hampton. He farmed for many years with his father and later with his son. For a number of years he owned and operated a trucking business. All through his life he has enjoyed raising horses and sharing his love of horses with others. Willis involved himself in many activities in the community and enjoyed being with his friends, family and especially his grandchildren. He was a member of the Congregational Church of Chapin until it closed and then became a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in Chapin. He is survived by his wife, Lucille, of Sheffield; his son, Richard, and his wife, Connie, of Sheffield; his daughter, Nancy, and her husband, Larry, of Chapin; five grandchildren, Seth Deam of The United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.; Marie and Ira Deam, both of Sheffield, and Andy and Micky Adams, both of Chapin; his mother-in-law, Holda Olk, of Hampton; and many more family members and friends.
