Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 28, 1993 at 3 p.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery at Creighton with military rites by the Creighton VFW Post #1151 and American Legion Post #74. Rev. Willis Sanders was born November 21, 1917 at Creighton to Anna Sanders Moser and died July 25, 1993 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. He was raised at Creighton and graduated from Creighton High School in 1937. He then went to the CC Camp before being drafted into the United States Army and served during WWII from May 1942 to December 1945. After the service he returned to Creighton and worked for the Co-op and the Creighton Livestock Market. He married Nyeulah Irene Geisler on December 25, 1952. They lived at Creighton while Willis continued to work at the Livestock Market. In 1952 they moved to a farm at Plainview, then, Niobrara. From Niobrara they moved back to Creighton, when Willis began to work for the Soil Conservation Service in 1956. In 1958 they moved to O'Neill where he continued his work for the SCS. In 1961 they moved to Ord. Willis worked at the Ord SCS office until 1983 when he retired. He spent 30 years with the SCS. Willis was a member of the Ord American Legion, the Ord United Methodist Church. Over the years he had been on bowling teams and also had been Scout Master for the Cub Scouts. His hobbies included raising Bantam chickens, pigeons and doves. He was a conservationist and planted many trees and flowers/ He is survived by his wife, Irene, of Ord; two daughters, DeAnn Weeks of Waverly and Jara Timmons of Scotia; a son, Mark of League City, TX; also grandchildren.
