Willis Joseph was born on December 09, 1930, in Marshall County, Iowa, the son of Leo George & Helen Marie (Edel) Drummer. He was raised and educated in Marshalltown, graduating from St. Mary's High School with the class of 1949. Following high school, Bud worked for Strand Baking Company until his induction into the U.S. Army in September, 1951. He served his country during the Korean Conflict until he was wounded in combat in July, 1952. He received the Purple Heart for service to his country. He returned stateside as a paraplegic and entered into a rehabilitation program at the Hines Veterans Hospital in Chicago, where he was taught to be independent and self-reliant. Bud enjoyed John Wayne movies and memorabilia, Dixieland jazz including Louis Armstrong, and Hawkeye & Iowa State basketball. He loved dining out with family and friends. He generously contributed to humanitarian causes. Bud was a member of St. Henry's Catholic Church, the American Legion, and other Veterans Groups. He will be loved and remembered by all who knew him as a courageous, determined, and independent individual. Bud is survived by a sister Karen & husband Dean Elder, Marshalltown, Iowa; a brother Keith & wife Joyce Drummer, Marshalltown, Iowa; other family; and a loyal friend Larry Luing, Boca Raton, Florida.
