Description	:	Willis Nolte, 71, of Waverly, Iowa, died Tuesday evening, January 4, 2005, at Allen Memorial Hospital of natural causes. He was born on August 21, 1933, in Bremer County, Iowa, north of Waverly, the son of William F. and Ida (Buhre) Nolte. Following graduation from high school Willis farmed and on February 22, 1953, he was united in marriage to Winifred Platte, at St. Paul Lutheran Church Waverly, and to this union two daughters were born, Wanda and Wilanna. Read More	Willis Nolte, 71, of Waverly, Iowa, died Tuesday evening, January 4, 2005, at Allen Memorial Hospital of natural causes. He was born on August 21, 1933, in Bremer County, Iowa, north of Waverly, the son of William F. and Ida (Buhre) Nolte. Following graduation from high school Willis farmed and on February 22, 1953, he was united in marriage to Winifred Platte, at St. Paul Lutheran Church Waverly, and to this union two daughters were born, Wanda and Wilanna. The couple later divorced. Willis then began living at the Bremer County Farm where he oversaw the farming operation for many years. When the farm closed he moved to Waverly and retired. During the floods of 1999 his home was destroyed and since that time he had been living at the Dettmer House in Waverly. Willis was well known throughout the community through his daily presence on several steps and benches, and by the Stetson hat he always wore. He enjoyed going for coffee, out to eat, and scratching lottery tickets and pull tabs. He also enjoyed drinking his Diet Pepsi and going for rides with his friends. He loved cars, listening to music, and dancing, especially the two-step. Willis is survived by his two daughters and their husbands, Wanda and Dale Colsch of Plainfield, Iowa, Wilanna and David Hennings of Mead, Colorado; five grandchildren; and one great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wendell and Wilbert; a sister in infancy, and a brother in infancy. Visitation for Willis will be on Friday, January 7, 2005, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at the Funeral Home, Waverly. There will be no services other than the visitation. Burial of cremains will be at a later date at St. John's United Church of Christ-Siegel Cemetery, rural Waverly. Memorials may be directed to the donor's choice.
