He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred "Ted" Frank and Phyllis West Gould; and wives, Shirley Rafferty Gould and Kay Mulder Householder Gould. Willis is survived by his wife, Emily Smith Vance Gould; daughters, Kathleen (Tim) Robertson, and Lynn (Greg) Sonora; grandchildren, Michael (Emily) Clemans, and Eric (Sierra) Clemans; step-children: Michael (Lisa) Vance; J. Robert (Lynn) Householder and their children, Samuel and Kathryn; and Brian (Nicole) Householder and their children, Johnathan and Christopher; sister, Esther Gould O'Brien (Bourke) Trask; and many nieces and nephews. He attended Milo schools until moving to South Portland, ME. There he attended Lincoln School during WWII. He moved back to Milo in 1944 where he graduated Milo High School, class of 1949. In January 1950, Willis enlisted in the US Army in Bangor, ME, and attended Basic Training at Ft. Dix, NJ. He was then stationed in Weiden and Hof Germany in the 7th Army, 15th Constabulary Squadron, A Troop. Willis was a radio operator on patrols and observation posts along the Iron Curtain separating West Germany from East Germany and Czechoslovakia (Czech Republic) during the Cold War with Russia. He became Troop Communications Sergeant. Early in 1953 he left the Army as Staff Sergeant with an Honorable Discharge. Willis graduated Maine Vocational Institute (Southern Maine Community College), South Portland, on the GI Bill. In July 1950, he was employed by the North Electric Co, Galion, OH, where he transitioned through many departments. In 1970 he became a Manufacturer's Representative and moved to Ft. Wayne, IN. In 1980 he moved to West Carrolton, OH and continued his work as a Manufacturer's Representative. Willis finished his work-a-day life by forming his own company engaged in communications outside plant engineering. He hired his good friends Rex and Jerry and together they engineered fiberoptic cable routes in Dayton, Cincinnati and Columbus, OH. In 2003, Willis and Emily moved to Powell, OH where Emily was employed as a professional meeting planner for the West Ohio Conference, United Methodist Church. In 2003 they were employed by Educational Opportunities Tours, a Christian travel company in Jerusalem, Israel to perform hospitality functions for pilgrims touring the Holy Land. They retired in 2010. In 2019 the moved to Omaha. Willis and Emily enjoyed spending summers at their cottage near Milo, ME hosting family and friends for over 20 years.
