Wilma Alberta, the daughter of Joseph and Zana (Fish) Rau was born August 23, 1919 in Fayette, Iowa. She graduated from Stanley High School. Brink, 94 of rural Elkader, Iowa died Friday, May 9, 2014 at the Elkader Care Center, Elkader, Iowa. Wilma Alberta, the daughter of Joseph and Zana (Fish) Rau was born August 23, 1919 in Fayette, Iowa. She graduated from Stanley High School. Wilma was united in marriage with Joseph Brink on leap year day February 29, 1944 at St. Sebald Church in Strawberry Point. Wilma and Joseph farmed for many years near Elkader, Iowa. She loved being in the farrowing house. Wilma and Joseph worked hand in hand raising children, cattle, pigs and corn. She also enjoyed watching her boys and grandkids show Joe's Herford cattle and the family Hampshire hogs at the livestock shows. After a long day of work, Wilma always wanted her hair and nails to look their best. Wilma enjoyed cooking. Strawberry jam, chocolate chip cookies and goulash were some of the favorites. Her cookie jar was always full, she baked bread that nobody in the family could master and when preparing the full noon meal for the men, there was always a plate for one more. She spent hours quilting and at her sewing machine. She truly loved being a homemaker and raising her three boys. Wilma and Joe shared the same birthday and age. They always enjoyed a good game of cards with friends and neighbors and in her younger years, she never turned down a dance. Wilma was a charter member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Elkader and she enjoyed reading her prayer book. Wilma truly loved her family and the farming life. She is survived by her three sons, James (Mary) Brink and their children; Heather, Shane, Tara, Corey and Ashley. George (Bev) Brink and their children; Alexa, Spencer and Haley. Jerry (Wanda) Brink and their son; Preston and his special friend Megan. She has 11 great grandchildren and will be missed very dearly. Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, who died February 2, 1999; her infant son, John; her parents; five brothers, Clair, Clarence, Cecil, Ralph, and Duwayne Rau; and four sisters, Josephine Bahe, Lillie Scharff, Velma Kunkel and Dorothy McAllister.
