Description	:	Wilma C. Otteman, 96, of Hooper died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at Hooper Care Center. Wilma was born July 25, 1917, on a farm east of Scribner to J. August and Johanne (Bentrupt) Heitmann. She was raised on the farm and graduated from Hooper High School in 1936. Wilma was born July 25, 1917, on a farm east of Scribner to J. August and Johanne (Bentrupt) Heitmann. She was raised on the farm and graduated from Hooper High School in 1936. After her schooling, Wilma worked as a bookkeeper at the co-op, waitress at the Hooper Inn, and for Dr. Heusel for 15 years, retiring in 1981. Wilma married Gilbert Otteman on March 1, 1945. Together they owned and operated the Hooper Café. Gilbert preceded Wilma in death on March 10, 1990. Wilma was one of the founders of the Hooper Senior Center and remained very active. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Smiles Club. She was a member of two card clubs. Survivors include: a daughter, Phyllis Atwood of Hooper; two sons, Kenneth (and wife, Amaryllis) Otteman of Spokane Valley, Wash., and Lloyd (and wife, Sue) Otteman of Houston; son-in-law, Don Meltvedt; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a daughter and a granddaughter. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hooper with the Rev. Joel Schroeder officiating. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Sunday at Ludvigsen's Hooper Funeral Chapel with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. There will be a service of remembrance and sharing at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time Monday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hooper Senior Center and Hooper Care Center.
