Description	:	Wilma Colette Werts Strait was born to Harvey and Artie Werts on Nov. 2, 1918 in Russell, Iowa. She passed away on Oct. 7, 2008, in Prairie Village, Kan. Following her graduation from Russell High School in 1937, she graduated from Iowa Success Business School in Ottumwa. During the war she worked at the Ordinance Plant in Burlington, Iowa.Wilma was married to William C. Strait in 1945. Following her graduation from Russell High School in 1937, she graduated from Iowa Success Business School in Ottumwa. During the war she worked at the Ordinance Plant in Burlington, Iowa.Wilma was married to William C. Strait in 1945. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Strait; her son, Gene Strait; and her two brothers, Dale and Roger Werts. Wilma is survived by her daughter, Susan Strait Hartley and husband, Tom of Kansas City, Mo.; her granddaughter, Meredith Hartley and Meredith's friend, Jeremiah Pyle, both of Boston, Mass. Others surviving are her brothers, Dean Werts of Chariton, Iowa and Burdette Werts and his wife, Lois of Millerton, Iowa. As well as a sisters-in-law, Deloris Werts of Russell, Iowa and Charlotte Werts of North Platte, Neb.; and many Werts and Strait nieces and nephews. Wilma was an avid reader and was active in the P.E.O. sisterhood, in her churches, and other social service and educational organizations in Milton, Russell, and Kansas City. She will be missed by countless friends in all communities. Services were held 10:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 10, 2008 at Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton, Iowa with Rev. John Boatman officiating. Pallbearers were Carl Werts, Brent Werts, Steve Shepherd, Shawn Werts, Ron Powell, and Jeremiah Pyle. Published in the Ottumwa Daily Courier from 11/4/2008 - 11/5/2008
