Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Minden United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Blanchard officiating. Burial will be at Minden Cemetery. In 1942, she married Marvin Favinger of Minden. He preceded her in death. Survivors include her sons, Steven and his wife, Lynne, of Kearney and Bruce and his wife, Deanne, of Minden; grandchildren, Curt and his wife, Carrie, of Fort Worth, Texas, Scott and his wife, Brenda, of Fort Carson, Colo., Eric and his partner, Apryl, of Denver, Melissa Seiler and her husband, Greg, of Minden, Mason of Lincoln, Mark and his wife, Jennifer, of Vance Air Force Base, Okla., and Matthew of Minden; granddaughter by choice, Lina Heinke of Germany; and great-grandchildren, Riley, Ashley, Kelsey, Atticus, Greyson and Aylem Favinger and Drew, Zoey and Gage Seiler. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Shickley. She grew up on a farm in Fillmore County near Ong and attended Sodtown Country School and Ong Public School. She graduated in 1939. After graduation, she attended the Nebraska School of Commerce in Hastings and later worked as a bookkeeper in Hastings, Chicago and Minneapolis. She married Marvin at Zion Lutheran Church in Shickley. They were parents of three sons: Steven, Robert and Bruce. After Marvin was discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1945, they lived in Minden for a few years. In 1952, they moved to the family farm northeast of Minden where they continued to live until their retirement in 1985 when they moved back to Minden. Wilma was a member of the United Methodist Church, was a Sunday school teacher for many years, a Girl Scout leader and a member of the United Methodist Women. She served on the Kearney County Fair Board for a number of years and was a member of Women Involved in Farm Economics. She will be especially remembered by her grandchildren for her homemade pies, cookies and peanut butter balls, which they knew they could always count on at Grandma's house. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Robert; two sisters; and a brother.
