Description	:	Wilma Gobeli, of Meservey, died on Sunday, October 2, 2005, at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa. Funeral services were held on Wednesday morning, October 5, 2005, at the Salem United Methodist Church in Meservey, with the Rev. Rose Calderon-Kahn presiding. Interment was in the Meservey Cemetery. Read More	Wilma Gobeli, of Meservey, died on Sunday, October 2, 2005, at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa. Funeral services were held on Wednesday morning, October 5, 2005, at the Salem United Methodist Church in Meservey, with the Rev. Rose Calderon-Kahn presiding. Interment was in the Meservey Cemetery. Wilma Fern, was born on June 11, 1925, on a farm in Hardin County, the daughter of Howard and Nellie (Manning) Hurd. She started school in Williams and in 1941 moved with her family to a farm near Meservey. She graduated from the Meservey High School in 1943. On August 18, 1944 she married Dean Gobeli at the Methodist Parsonage in Meservey. Wilma was a member of the Salem Unite Methodist Church, where she served on the board. She was a member of the Meservey American Legion Auxiliary Post 171 where she served in local and county offices and was a precinct election official the past few years. After they quit farming, Wilma and Dean hauled livestock for Bonner Truck Line in many states and Canada for 25 years. They also ran the Meservey grocery store for 13 months. Wilma enjoyed spending time with her family, attending the school events of her grandkids and great grandkids, being in her garden and taking trips to the casino. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1993; two sisters; and one brother. She is survived by her children, Linda (Kenneth) Shaw of Meservey, Michael (Pam) Gobeli of Meservey, Steven (Jan) Gobeli of Hamilton, Ohio and Cynthia (Ron) Abel of Knoxville; grandchildren, Michelle (Rob) Duff, Kendra (Scot) Wilson, Chad (Ranae) Shaw, Cory, Cara and Crystal Gifford, Lucas Gobeli and Jeremy Gobeli; great-grandchildren, Amber, Kyle and Hailey Duff, Sadie and Seth Wilson, and Spencer, Conner and Jared Shaw; sister, Lavonne Friar; and brother-in-law, Vern (Jan) Gobeli. ©Belmond Independent 2005
