Read More	Death Claims Life of Wilma Jean Luhn, 12 When the bell of Trinity Lutheran Church rang last Saturday, it announced the death of little Wilma Jean Luhn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Luhn, who had departed this life for the better land in yonder world, at about 2:40 in the afternoon. Her funeral was held Tuesday afternoon. After the usual short service at the house of mourning, with prayer, Scripture reading, and hymn by a quartet, the service at church began at two o’clock. The Word of God on which the sermon was based is recorded in Rev. 21, 1-5, describing the eternal, blessed life in the kingdom of glory, into which the little sufferer entered by temporal death. A duet of ladies sang “Take Thou my Hands and Lead Me.” Now her frail body lies in her narrow chamber in Trinity Lutheran cemetery to await the call of the Savior at the end of time. Wilma Jean Luhn was born October 7, 1924 at the parental home 2 miles south of Blue Hill. Soon after her entrance into this vale of tears she was made a child of God in Holy Baptism, October 16, of the same year. The Rev. Lewis Spitz performed the sacred act of administering the sacrament. The departed little child was afflicted with softening of the bones, causing deformity of the limbs. She was never able to walk a step by herself. She was deprived of many joys and the happiness commonly enjoyed by other little folks. Often she would ask: “Why can’t I play, run and leap about like other children?” She keenly felt the handicap which the Lord had placed on her. Surely, we all can feel the sorrow which the parents had to bear all these long years. But in spite of this affliction little Wilma was a cheerful little child of God, always ready with a winning smile. She occupied her little hands with many useful ways, by doing fancy _____________________________________ and the like. Above all she learned to read the Bible history, and the Bible itself. She loved her Savior and His word. She would always attend the services in the church whenever the parents would bring her. The day before her departure she read her last chapter from the Book of God. The last day she was unable to do__________. Finally the Lord in His goodness and mercy, as it were, said: It is enough, dear parents, you have sorrowed a long time, your child has lived long enough in this sad world, deprived of so many things which other children enjoy. I shall take her into my heavenly home and give her a full measure of joy and happiness with Me and the angles, and the saints in glory. He sent the angel of death to touch her frail body and after a short illness with whooping cough and bronchial pneumonia, she closed her eyes for her last sleep, and her soul was carried by the holy angles into Abraham’s bosom, last Saturday afternoon, June 6, at 2:40, at the age of 11 years, 7 months, and 29 days. She leaves to mourn her early death, the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Luhn; one brother, Marlin; three sisters, Gertrude, Vera, and Elaine; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Luhn of Lincoln and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Buck of Blue Hill, and many other relatives.
