Mrs. Sharples died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at Neligh Nursing Center. The daughter of Peter and Hadie (Eickhoff) Thomsen was born Oct 31, 1914, at Tilden. She attended District 14 School and graduated from the Tilden High School in 1932. She was married to Ray Sharples on Feb. 14, 1934, at the home of her parents. They farmed for 13 years in the Oakdale and Tilden areas. For 10 years they owned and operated a service station in Oakdale. With her husband's employment with the government, they lived in Lincoln, Wakefield, Newton, Kan., and Garden Plain, Kan., retiring to Neligh in 1977. She was a member of Peace United Church of Christ and its Women's Fellowship and was a past member of the Rebekahs. She was also a past 4-H leader. Survivors include a son and his wife, Robert and Barbara of Neligh; daughters and their husbands, Marlene and Larry Schwarting of Falls City, Phyllis and Cliff Pittack of Tilden and Deloris and Larry Gergens of Hudson, Wis.; 18 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, several step grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband a son, one brother, one sister and a great-granddaughter.
