KLEMME DIES SATURDAY IN TRACTOR UPSET Last Rites Will Be Held Thursday at Craig Church The first tractor fatality of the year in Plymouth County occurred just before noon Saturday, with Wilmer C. Klemme, who farms about ten miles east of town, the victim, aged 43 years, 4 months, and 22 days. Mr. Klemme was hauling in grain from a grinder on his place when in some unexplained manner his tractor left the gravel road, overturned in the ditch, and pinned him beneath. No one witnessed the accident, but when he did not appear for dinner, his wife sent one of her sons to look for him. The boy found his father and went to the home of a nearby neighbor, Eldon J. Bryant, for help. Dr. Sherman Lindell, county medical examiner of Le Mars, investigated and determined that Mr. Klemme had met instant death from a skull fracture. The body was taken to a Le Mars funeral home. Wilmer Clarence Klemme was born near Akron October 15, 1919, to Mr. and Mrs. Alfred H. Klemme, and had spent his entire lifetime in Plymouth County. He was united in marriage with Dorothy Baack on August 31, 1947, at Craig, Iowa, and two sons and one daughter were born to them. Mr. Klemme was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church at Craig, where he was a former member of the church council and past officer in the Brotherhood. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of American Legion Hoschler post #186 in Akron. Survivors are his wife, Dorothy Klemme; two sons, Terry Klemme and Steven Klemme; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred H. Klemme, Akron; and a brother, Gordon G. Klemme, Akron. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lori J. Klemme. Funeral services will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at Craig, in St. John's Lutheran Church, Rev. Ervin Schemmel officiating, and burial in the church cemetery. Mr. Klemme's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Klemme, who had been on a trip to Arizona and other points in the southwest, were contacted at Loveland, Colo., and advised of the tragic accident that had taken their son's life. The family of the deceased have the heartfelt sympathy of their many friends in this sad and sudden bereavement.
