Albemarle, Sept. 8.--W.E. Springs, foreman in charge of the painting crew for the Tallassee Power company at Badin, was electrocuted this morning at 8:45 o'clock, death having been the instant result of the shock received. Mr. Springs was painting one of the large steel towers, working just above a wire which was carrying 13,000 volts. no one was looking at him at the instant he received the shock, but it is thought his foot slipped and came into contact with the live wire. he fell about 30 feet to the ground and died instantly. Mr. Springs came to Badin about six months ago from Charlotte, where his parents reside. He had been acting as foreman of the painting crew since coming, having been also an electrician as well as a painter. He was about 30 years old and leaves a widow and two babies. He was a member of the Badin Presbyterian church, was well known in Badin, where he had many friends. His death is a shock to the entire town. His parents have been notified of the death and they are expected to reach Badin this afternoon. The funeral arrangements will not be made until they arrive.
