Etna, Iowa and passed away at the Creston hospital May 8, 1956 at the age of 80 years, 1 month, and 26 days. His early life was spent in the Mt. Etna and Massena communities. He was one of eight children, four of whom have preceded him in death. On December 24, 1897 he was united in marriage to Matilda Larson and they made their first home north of Mt. Etna, and spent their 59 yearsof marriage in Adams and adjoining counties. To this union eleven children were born: Grace, who died in infancy; Max, of Corning; Lauretta, Mrs. Emmett Townsley, Mt. Etna; Marie, Mrs. Arthur Holste, of Massena; Gladys, Mrs. Vernon Bennett of Clearfield; Winfield of Lenox; Bernie, Mrs. Harold Elswick of Council Bluffs; Mildred, Mrs. Bert Brown of Hereford, Texas; Russell of Corning; and Clare of Corning. Besides his devoted wife and children, he is survived by 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; his mother, Annie Ramsey of Urich, Missouri; a brother, Floyd of Reedly, California; and two sisters, Mrs. Ella Keller of Reedly, California and Mrs. Stella Cannon of Urich, Missouri. Mr. Ramsey was a kind and loving father who especially looked forward to the times when his children and grandchildren came to visit him. He had the pleasure only three weeks ago of attending the one hundredth birthday anniversary of his mother. There he enjoyed visiting with his brother and two sisters and many other relatives. Services were conducted Thursday, May 10, 1956 at 2 p.m. from the Mt. Etna Church of the Brethren with the Rev. W. B. Gahm presiding. Music was furnished by Gerald Rogers, Clarence Johnston, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer West with Mrs. W. B. Gahm at the piano. Pall Bearers were Charles Homan, Frederick Drake, Dave Sparks, Charles Drake, Bob Thompson, and Charles Reynolds. Flower bearers were Mrs. Charles Homan and Mrs. Frederick Drake. Interment was in the Mt. Etna Cemetery.
