He was born to Henry and Margaret Ross Darr Oct. 24, 1874. His parents and grandparents moved to Wooster from Pennsylvania over 100 years ago. He attended Wooster schools and Wooster College. He was associated for a number of years with his Uncle, Albert Ross, in the printing business in Cedar Falls, (Black Hawk County,) Iowa. He, his wife and only son, Maurice, moved to California in 1912. Before retiring he and his wife were also in the real estate business. He returned to visit Wooster a number of times and was always keenly interested in old friends here, especially the families of the early settlers of this community. Upon moving to California, he was instrumental in starting the Wayne County Club. The club still meets annually and has grown with the years as more local people have moved there and like to hear and share news of Wooster. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, son, three sisters, and six brothers. Surviving are a number of nieces and nephews, among them Harvey, Ross and Robert Darr, Mrs. Walter Brenneman, and Mrs. Albert Weber of Wooster; Mrs. Leroy Galehouse of and Mrs. Paul Griffith of Marshallville; and Jack Darr of Lodi. The body will be cremated and there will be no funeral services at his request.
