In 1932 she married Elden Ferrell at Sturgis, S. D. The couple had six children, one of whom preceded her in death. Mrs. Ferrell had lived in Miles City the last seven years. December 26, 1911, the daughter of Enoch Larson Schetnan and Cora Margaret Celestine (Reed) Schetnan. In 1932 she married Elden Ferrell at Sturgis, S. D. The couple had six children, one of whom preceded her in death. Mrs. Ferrell had lived in Miles City the last seven years. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America. "I want to live until my boys are grown up," Winifred said time and again. The mother instinct and motherly love was very strong in her life, and she wanted to see her family of five boys grow up so they could care for themselves, but a Higher Destiny willed it differently. Winifred was born on the day after Christmas on a western South Dakota homestead during a baby blizzard nine miles from the closest town and doctor, but a nurse on a neighboring homestead attended the baby girl and her mother. Winifred was a curly, yellow-haired little girl with a sound body and a sound mind and was the picture of health during her early years. At the age of 12 she suffered viral attacks of acute inflammatory rheumatism but with the nursing and tender care of her mother, she recovered. She never was the same healthy, robust girl she was before this illness and while a high school student, she contracted scarlet fever which left its mark. Winifred was always a happy person, who enjoyed making friends with everyone and enjoyed life. She had one sorrowful experience when she lost a little daughter, Phyllis, from typhoid fever. She felt so deeply from this loss that she at the time did not wish to go back to the town in which they were living and her wish was respected. Winifred was a loving wife and mother. Her family always came first and was given every consideration a mother could give. Winifred became an easy victim of pneumonia and repeated attacks of inflammatory rheumatism but she recovered from pneumonia no less than five times with the hope that she might live for her family. Doctors gave her up many times, but Winifred wanted to live - she had an object in life - she wanted to see her sons become worthwhile young men. No mother can have a more inspiring object in life for which to life. Written by Enoch Schetnan, father of Winifred. Funeral services conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of Graves Mortuary with the Rev. John B. Fitz of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Mrs. Etta Wyatt in charge of music.
