Winnie was born on June 26, 1911, in rural Orange City, the daughter of Johannes and Anna (Baartman) Van Oort. She was raised mostly at Middleburg. On January 4, 1933, she married Gerrit Grevengoed at Middleburg. They farmed in the Middlelburg area, where she was a homemaker. In 1974, they retired into Hull and spent many winters in the southern part of the United States, often in Arizona. Gerrit passed away on October 2, 1998, in Sioux Center. In 2001, Mrs. Grevengoed became a resident of Pleasant Acres. She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, where she participated in the women's organizations. She enjoyed playing hymns on the organ, liked to crochet, and looked forward to having time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter, Darlene; three sons, John, Howard and Alvin; nineteen grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, twelve great-great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Lawrence. All her other family members preceded her in death.
