Winona Joan Jansen was born April 27, 1937, in Sioux Center to Henry and Winnie (Van Putten) Wissink. She married Henry Jansen, Jr. November 22, 1955 at First Reformed Church. Winona was a life-long resident of Sioux Center and worked in a variety of vocations: daycare, Vans Poultry, Ver Hoef Chevrolet, and Casey's Bakery. She was an active member in Central Reformed Church where she sang with the choir. Her interests included bowling, Twins baseball, Green Bay Packers football, family, especially her grandchildren, rarely missing a ball game. She loved collecting different items, such as Sioux Center and cow memorabilia. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to her family members, including her mother-in-law Cornelia, and her husband until he passed away at the age of 62. Winona was also a Hospice volunteer. Mrs. Jansen is survived by her six children: Jeff and Tina Jansen of Sioux Center, Beth and Bob Zeutenhorst of Maurice, Cathy and Jake Wagenaar of Sioux Center, Carol and Bruce Hofmeyer of Orange City, Gregg Jansen and fiancée, Lilia Hansen of Omaha, Scott and Dianne Jansen of Sioux Falls; her 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Also left to cherish her memory are her sister, Gertrude Wissink of Sioux Center and sister-in-law, Gerdina Wissink of Sioux Center. Preceding her in death are her husband Henry; her parents; sister, Everly Popovich; and brothers: Marion Wissink, Bill Wissink and his wife, Rosie. Memorial Funeral Home, Sioux Center, IA., obit.
