Description	:	Winona Goedert, age 87 of Lexington, died August 10, 2004 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg. She was born March 6, 1917 at Lincoln to Max and Hedwig Liebers Junkin. Her mother preceded her in death when Winona was 18 months old and she was raised by her father and stepmother, Reba. She graduated from Smithfield High School and attended Kearney College where she received a teaching degree. She also attended the University of New Mexico at Las Vegas. Read More	Winona Goedert, age 87 of Lexington, died August 10, 2004 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg. She was born March 6, 1917 at Lincoln to Max and Hedwig Liebers Junkin. Her mother preceded her in death when Winona was 18 months old and she was raised by her father and stepmother, Reba. She graduated from Smithfield High School and attended Kearney College where she received a teaching degree. She also attended the University of New Mexico at Las Vegas. She taught school at Wahoo, Elwood and Lexington. On June 18, 1947, she married Pete Goedert at the Junkin family home at Smithfield. The couple made their home at Lexington where she was an Avon agent for 14 years. She had been active in the Methodist church before being baptized at and becoming a member of Parkview Baptist Church at Lexington. She was a longtime member of the Order of Eastern Star, an all sports fan, especially Nebraska football and enjoyed gardening along with being an avid reader. Survivors include a daughter, Jo Marie (Pierre) Hoppe of Paulina, Oregon; two granddaughters, Sara (Kraig) Gross of Spokane, Washington and Joie Lynn Hoppe of Paulina, Oregon; a sister-in-law, Erie Junkin of Smithfield and her family, Jon (Joan) Junkin of Lincoln, Dan (Linda) Junkin of Holdrege and Daisy (Larry) Sperling of Grand Island; other nieces and nephews and Winona's extended family, Joan Flesch of Gothenburg and Carol (James) Bauer of Cozad. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995, and a brother, Eldred Junkin. Memorials are suggested to Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg. Services were Saturday, August 14, 2004 at Parkview Baptist Church in Lexington with Revs. Matt Dumas and Janie Freeman officiating. Burial in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad in charge of arrangements.
