Born December 24, 1942 in Paw Paw, WV and raised in Brunswick, MD she is the daughter of the late Wilbur and Elvenia Bechtol. Nonie graduated from high school and began working in Washington, D.C. at the Naval Yard, followed by a 34 year career at National Institute of Health, Bethesda, MD. She married Channing D. ("C.D.") Herrell, who preceded her in death after sharing 52 years of marriage, and they had two children. She attended New Hope Methodist Church in Brunswick, where she was a faithful member and volunteer, often giving testimony in worship about God's love and goodness. She was a part of the Wednesday morning women's prayer group, a member of the Mission Committee and bereavement committee, and always willing to serve. She had a special heart for the poor and for children. Her faithfulness and joy in serving Christ inspired all she met to follow a more faithful walk and to trust in God's never-failing love. She truly was Christ's hands and feet. She is survived by a son, Channing L. Herrell, and his wife Joni, of Keedysville, MD, a daughter, Alicia Lerch, and her husband Mark, of Knoxville, MD, a grandson, Michael Payne and his wife Rosa, of Harpers Ferry, WV, a granddaughter, Kasey Lerch of Knoxville, MD, and a great grandson, Raylin Payne of Harpers Ferry, WV. She is also survived by her siblings, Joyce Myers, and husband Buck, of Brunswick, MD, Janet Williams of Sharpsburg, MD, Robert Bechtol, and wife Ann, and Rhonda Taylor, both of Brunswick, MD, as well as many special nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held at New Hope United Methodist Church, 7 S. Maryland Avenue, Brunswick, MD 21716 on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Katie Bishop will officiate. Interment immediately following service in Union Cemetery, New Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 12942 Lutheran Church Road, Lovettsville, VA 20180. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430 or to New Hope United Methodist Church, 7 S.
