"Dubie" Dubisher, 92, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, September 26, 2011, with his family by his side at Heritage Rehab and Nursing Center after a long illness. Winston was born on December 6, 1918 in Iowa County, the son of Anna (Thomas) and Edward Dubisher. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Frank Hess, stepmother Nina Dubisher, sisters Marge (Robert) Narber and Lucille (Armon) Mills, brother Jim Hess, brothers-in-law Erich Madoerin, Armon Mills, and Robert Narber, and nephews Ron Madoerin and Scott Hess, his Dalmatian Speck and his hateful cat, Tucker. Winston is survived by his wife of 69 years, Anita (Madoerin), daughter Marilyn Hopcus of Cedar Rapids and son Gary Dubisher of Littleton, CO; grandchildren Jason (Virian) Hopcus, Jordan Hopcus, Angie Dubisher, Heather (James) Evanoff, Ryan (Joanna) Dubisher, Laura (Courtney) Wolfe and Jason Burianek; great-grandchildren Brenden, Justin, Keemo, Courtney and Conrad; sisters-in-law Esther (Idris) Davies and Stella Esther Madoerin; many nieces and nephews; and his little dog, Bug. Originally a farmer in Iowa County, Winston then served in the USAAF during WWII. He moved his family to Cedar Rapids in 1952 where he worked for Kenwood Furniture and Transfer until his retirement in 1980. During his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his family, gardening, and playing cards with friends, tinkering in his garage and spending time with grandchildren. He was a gentle, kind man that will be dearly missed. All our love, Your Family.
