Mr. Grier was born a son of Samuel Benjamin "Sammie" Grier and Clara Mae Moore Grier on October 6, 1930 in Hemingway, SC. Their family was blessed with: three children, Cheryl (Michael) Casselman, Peggy (Steve) Brown, and Ricky Venters; and three grandchildren, Ronnie Shannon, Susan Martin, and Jordan Casselman; four great grandchildren, Ryan Smith, Dallas Shannon, Dakota Speas, and Jarrod Shannon; one brother, Sammie Grier, Jr.; two sisters, Elsie Davis and Lena Mae West; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by: his parents; four brothers, Charles, Luther, and Dennis, and Glenda. A Home Going Celebration will be 2 PM, Friday, March 16, 2012, at the Georgetown Pentecostal Holiness Church with interment in the Old Johnsonville Cemetery directed by the Georgetown Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
