On her marriage record her mother is listed, Grietje Gruis but no father is given. They emigrated to America in 1885 arriving in New York 15 May 1885 from Bremen, Germany aboard the "Rhein". George Roelfsema died 10 Oct 1909 in Wright County at the age of 59. She married a second time on 24 November 1919 to Martin Boomgarden. This was his third marriage. They lived in Kanawha, Iowa. Wabbena Abbas Boomgarden died at her home Saturday morning, 22 June 1934, aged 83, following an illness of several months. She is buried in Alexander, Iowa. She loved the Word of God. Wobbinas obituary appeared on page 8 of the June 26, 1934 Mason City Globe Gazette newspaper, Mason City, Iowa. Other records provide Martin's last name as Boomgaarden or Boomgarden. These may have been the Americanized version of Baumgardner. Mrs. Baumgardner of Kanawha Buried; Rites Held at Home, Church KANAWHA, June 26. The funeral of Mrs. Martin Baumgardener, 70, who died Friday morning, was held Monday afternoon at the house and at the Christian Reformed church with the Rev. H. D. Plesscher officiating. Mrs. Baumgardener was born in 1864 in Germany. She moved to Holland where she was married to George Rolfsema. To them one son, John, was born. Later they came to Abbot's Crossing, lowa, later moving to Alexander. In 1910 her husband died. In 1919 she was married to Martin J. Baumgardener of Kanawha and since lived in Kanawha. Besides her husband, she leaves her son, John Rolfsema of Des Moines; one brother, Daniel Abbas of Kanawha; two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Ganzeveld of Crystal Lake, and Mrs. Grace Perton; one granddaughter, Mrs. Carl Callies; two stepsons, Nathan and Okko Baumgardener of Kanawha. Burial was in Alexander.
