Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Saturday, September 19, 2009, at the First Presbyterian Church, Brooklyn with Rev. John Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in the Jackson County Township Cemetery, Montezuma with military honors conducted by Francis-Gallagher Post #294. He is survived by three daughters, Linda Mullen (Brad) of Guernsey, Bev Boyd of Urbandale, and Shirley Messamer (Ron) of Adel; six grandchildren, Tina Saland (Cory) of Brooklyn, Bradford Mullen of Brooklyn, Adam Mullen of Guernsey, Teresa Gale of Waukee, Randall Messamer (Monica) of Perry and Daniel Messamer of Puyallup, WA; and ten great grandchildren, Jon Mullen, Jesse Saland, Hanna Saland, Devin and Derik Gale, Allison, Stephanie, and Alex Messamer and Elaina and Jesse Messamer. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ina Mae, two brothers, Warren and John and a sister Evelyn Chrissinger. Woodrow William Boyd was born June 29, 1919 in Ewart, Iowa, the son of John and Eliza Smith Boyd. He received his education in the Poweshiek County schools and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Woody married Ina Mae Johnson in Montezuma on February 24, 1941. He was employed as a truck driver for the Poweshiek County Roads Department for many years. He also worked as an auto mechanic in Deep River and for Dyer's Ford in Brooklyn. Woody was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs. He loved homemade cookies, playing cards, bingo and word searches. He also enjoyed his daily drives around the area. Woody was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Brooklyn.
