Horne Sr. World War II veteran Woodrow Wilson Horne, Sr., 84, of 206 Bennett St., husband of Dora Lee Wages Horne, died at his residence Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, after an extended illness. Mr. Horne was born in Kelton on Sept. 17, 1918, a son of the late Franklin Hoss Horne and Nannie Vanderford Horne. He was a member of the Union Church of Christ. Mr. Horne was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was retired from United Merchants, Union Plant and Buffalo Plant. Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Judy Welch of Winder, Ga., Ginger Gault and Debbie Belk, both of Union; a son, Woodrow Wilson Horne Jr. of Union; four sisters, Pearl Thompson and Margaret Knox, both of Jonesville, Sara Rogers and Juanita Reynolds, both of Union; three brothers, Robert Horne and Lewis Horne, both of Union and Franklin D. Horne of Charleston; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Brad Goodale and the Rev. Ben McLaughlin. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery with military rites. Active pallbearers will be Dean Brown, James (Jack) Brown, Sammy White, Steve Horne, John Wages and Paul Thompson. The body will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9. The family is at the home, 206 Bennett St. Memorials may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, 1501 9th Ave., Bob Hope Road, Miami, Fla. 33136. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
