He was born on July 1, 1936 in Columbia, Iowa to Worley Otto Sly Sr. and Dora Jenny Adcock. He married Dixie Hughes in 1960 in Missouri. The couple later divorced. Worley was a truck driver for Churchill Trucklines. He enjoyed hunting, collecting guns, and visiting cemeteries to look at headstones. He also loved all animals, especially cats. He was born on July 1, 1936 in Columbia, Iowa to Worley Otto Sly Sr. and Dora Jenny Adcock. He married Dixie Hughes in 1960 in Missouri. The couple later divorced. Worley was a truck driver for Churchill Trucklines. He enjoyed hunting, collecting guns, and visiting cemeteries to look at headstones. He also loved all animals, especially cats. Worley will be missed by his family and friends. He is survived by five children, Becky Rhodes, Kitty (Tommy) Larue, Greg Sly, Shelly Sly all of Ottumwa, Iowa, Shawna (Kent) Lox of Fairfield, Iowa; twelve grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; ex-wife, Dixie Sly of Ottumwa; and a close nephew, Jimmy Joe Buck of Sevierville, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Charlie Denham; great-granddaughter, Unique Padilla; three brothers, Bill, Joe, and Bert Sly; and two sisters, Agnes Mae, Dorothy Buck. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at the Floris Cemetery in Floris, Iowa with Rev. Leslie Dotson officiating. No visitation is planned. A memorial has been established to the Heartland Humane Society in Ottumwa.
