He went to school in Chambers and graduated from Chambers High School in 1944. Zane was drafted into the U.S. Army that fall during World War II. He served in the states and overseas in Japan until March 1946, when he received an honorable discharge. He married Donna Darlene David on June 30, 1949 in Chambers. They made their home on a ranch in the Chambers area where they became the parents of four sons. Zane enjoyed farming and was an avid bowler. In his younger years he attended many tournaments with his bowling friends and also with his wife Donna. Zane also enjoyed watching his four boys and grandkids play all kinds of sports. You could find him in the grandstands or on the sidelines cheering all of them on. He loved his many cats and especially his dog Maggie, who was his constant companion after losing the love of his life Donna, his wife of 58 years. He was a member of the Memorial Baptist Church where he was very active in all ways.Zane is survived by his four sons Alan (Doretta) Rowse of O’Neill, Ricky (Sammie) Rowse of Amelia, Phillip (Elizabeth) Rowse of St. Paul and Doug (fiancé Chris Baker) Rowse of Elgin; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers Wayne (Peggy) Rowse of Chambers and Nyal (Gloria) Rowse of Stromsburg; one brother-in-law Lyle David of Bassett; one sister-in-law Doris David of Ord; and many nieces and nephews. Once six of them, in a one seat truck,The older boys, in the back were stuck.They reached the coast, of the states out west,And everyone, thought that trip their best. Once in a while, to Branson they'd go,They always had, a favorite show.They loved to laugh, and the laughs were there,And afterward, such good things to share. Always liked sports, they bowled many years,Watched their boys play, with joy and with tears.Traveled so far, to cheer each grandkid,No folks cared more, than Grandpa Zane did. Grandkids loved, to play in their yard,And Grandma's meals, were a winning card.You always felt, you were welcome there,And Zane would have, pleasant words to share. Go to the Coop, and if Zane were there,He'd do his best, to find you a chair.He'd fill you in, on talk of the day,Make sure that you, got to have a say. As an old friend, I would like to say,I'll miss you, Zane, now that you've gone away.Yet I do know, it's much better there,With passed loved ones, blessings to share. You've stayed the course, and you've run the race, And now you've met, Jesus face to face.There's welcome there, for all who know Him,And trials of earth, are now strangely dim. Gathered here now, we still see that grin,Would be so good, to see it again.But best for him, so much better now,With his Donna, and no fields to plow. The Lord for him, opened Heaven's door,And it's for sure, he'll suffer no more.So good you're there, where all things are new,Grandpa, goodbye, and Dad, we'll miss you.
