Description	:	Zachariah Eddy was a graduate of Brown University (1799) and the following year was made the principal of Plainville Academy in CT. It is said that he studied law with his famous kinsman, Samuel Eddy of Providence, RI. He became an eminent lawyer, who was known all through eastern New England. He kept his office in Middleboro, which became a center not only for legal and political discussions, but for many religious debates, for he was a very religious man and as learned in the Scriptures as in the law. It is said that he studied law with his famous kinsman, Samuel Eddy of Providence, RI. He became an eminent lawyer, who was known all through eastern New England. He kept his office in Middleboro, which became a center not only for legal and political discussions, but for many religious debates, for he was a very religious man and as learned in the Scriptures as in the law. He was an excellent counselor and friend to the young and all who came seeking advice. Living as he did in the very center of the Eddy traditions, he became interested in the history of the family and collected all he could find in regard to the branch to which he belonged. The New England Historical and Genealogical Register of July, 1854, printed a short sketch which he wrote. This contains a brief account of the early lines and definitely states that John Eddy of Taunton was a son of Samuel Eddy.
