Born September 14, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Garrett Augustus Hobart and Rosa Marguerite (Glotfelty) Harvey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul "Clark" Bittinger; two brothers, Randall and David Harvey; two sisters, Virginia Gower and Wanda Lee Harvey; one stepdaughter, Bonnie Wagner and one stepson, Paul Bittinger. Born September 14, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Garrett Augustus Hobart and Rosa Marguerite (Glotfelty) Harvey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul "Clark" Bittinger; two brothers, Randall and David Harvey; two sisters, Virginia Gower and Wanda Lee Harvey; one stepdaughter, Bonnie Wagner and one stepson, Paul Bittinger. Zelma was a homemaker for most of her life. After high school, she lived in Fairmont, WV for many years where she worked at the Owings Illinois Glass Factory, and in Baltimore, MD where she worked for Westinghouse. Zelma also served as a nanny to many children. She was a wonderful cook, baker, gardener and canner. Her faith and church were always at the center of her life. She was a member of the Sand Flat Assembly of God Church, which is currently known as the Lakeside Assembly of God Church, where she served as Secretary/Treasurer for many years. She also taught Sunday School and always rounded up many kids to take them to church. Recently, she said she took 13 kids in one trip to church. Zelma and her siblings had many stories of adventures throughout the years growing up, but she and her sister Inez had a special bond that lasted until her death. They loved and supported each other all of their lives. Zelma remembered every relative's birthday and sent cards and gifts to all. She always looked out for others in need. She had a wonderful sense of humor. She is survived by one sister, Inez Kitzmiller of Oakland, MD; two stepdaughters, Carol Haynes of Deer Park, MD and Donna Durst and husband Larry of Oakland, MD. She had twelve grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, seven nieces and nine nephews. Friends will be received at Lakeside Assembly of God, 18012 Garrett Hwy. Oakland, MD, 21550, on Thursday, September 16, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Services will be held at the church immediately following visitation at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Dennis Caton officiating.
