She was born August 23, 1920 in Rosalia, WA to Z.M. and Lula Curtis Chestnut and was raised in St. John, WA. Zennie was a nurse in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Read More	Zennie Louise Darnold (Age 87) Passed away October 6, 2007 at the Whitman Health & Rehab Center in Colfax, WA. She was born August 23, 1920 in Rosalia, WA to Z.M. and Lula Curtis Chestnut and was raised in St. John, WA. Zennie was a nurse in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Upon her return to the Palouse, she worked at the Bryant-Wiseman Clinic and St. Ignatius Hospital until she married Irwin Darnold on May 15, 1948 in Colfax. After taking time off to raise her children, she returned to work at Whitman Community Hospital until her retirement in 1987. She was a member of the Colfax United Methodist Church, Whitman Hospital Auxiliary, and the American Cancer Society. She enjoyed family outings, playing bridge, reading and volunteer work. Zennie is survived by one sister, Muriel Strawn, Fairhaven, MA; children, Bill and Sandy Darnold, Lynnwood, WA; Gary and Sheila Darnold, Coulee Dam, WA; and Sharron and Dan Cunningham, Colfax, WA; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Irwin Darnold and two brothers, Floyd and Gene Chestnut. A Graveside Inurnment will be held at 10 AM on Friday, October 12, 2007 at the Colfax Cemetery with a Memorial Service to follow at 11 AM at the Colfax United Methodist Church. A Reception will follow the services. Pastor Tori Hicks will officiate. The family suggests memorials be made to the Colfax United Methodist Church, American Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice.
