She was the widow of Cephus Mack. This old couple was about the first near Bono, and owned nearly all of the land at one time. For 4 or 5 years before her death, Mrs. Mack had been a helpless invalid. Newport Hoosier State Wednesday, December 4, 1889 Died at her quiet home in Bono, November 8, 1889, in the 68th year of her age, Mrs. Zerilda Mack, the wife of Cephus Mack, who died some 4 years ago at Summit Grove. Mrs. Mack, whose maiden name was Jordan, was the last but 2 of 14 children - one brother, William Jordan of Kansas, and a sister Mrs. Russell, near Dana. She leaves 7 children - 4 sons and 3 daughters - and a host of friends to mourn her loss. She was a faithful Christian, a tender mother and a steadfast friend, who had been well tested in all the changes in the lot of common life, but ever manifested that spirit which leads mortals to that home beyond the skies. She was a Christian at church and at home, a Christian in health and in sickness, her kindness was ever manifest, and to those whom she was the greatest charge, most deeply mourn her loss, and feel the need of her consolation. The funeral services were conducted by Brother Wright of Dana, and her remains laid to rest in the Helt's Prairie Cemetery by the side of her husbands.
