Description	:	Zola L. Maguire, 89, Logan, died Mar. 30 at the Westmont Care center, Logan. Zola Lorraine Maguire was born Aug. 20, 1919 to Edd and Ora (Godden) Chappell. She had one older brother. Lorraine attended and graduated from Magnolia High School. After graduation, she took the Normal Training course at Logan. She taught country school at Silver Hill, Mt. Hope, Starry Point, and Liberty schools. She was the fourth generation of her family to teach at Starry Point in Cass Township. Maguire, 89, Logan, died Mar. 30 at the Westmont Care center, Logan. Zola Lorraine Maguire was born Aug. 20, 1919 to Edd and Ora (Godden) Chappell. She had one older brother. Lorraine attended and graduated from Magnolia High School. After graduation, she took the Normal Training course at Logan. She taught country school at Silver Hill, Mt. Hope, Starry Point, and Liberty schools. She was the fourth generation of her family to teach at Starry Point in Cass Township. While teaching at Liberty School, east of Logan, she met Marion Maguire. They were married Dec. 23, 1941. They bought a farm near Hardscratch, where they started farming and raised their family. They had two sons, Larry and Jerry, and a daughter, Sharon. Lorraine was a member of the Logan Christian Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years, helped with Vacation Bible School, Junior Church and the ladies groups. After her children were grown, she attended Dana College and renewed her teaching certificate and did substitute teaching in the Logan-Magnolia Schools for several years. Lorraine worked part-time at the Gambles Store, G & L True Value, and volunteered at the Harrison County Food Pantry. She was a classic farm wife, helping with chores, raising chickens, milking cows, selling eggs and cream, and taking care of a large garden. She was famous for her cooking and homemade pies. She had a special love for her family and friends, flowers, sweets, watermelon, humming birds, dogs, kittens and her grandchildren. In 1977, the Maguires moved to town, into a house that Lorraine had designed and they had built. She enjoyed keeping her house in order and cooking meals for the entire family. She had a great faith in God, and had many favorite scriptures. One in particular was 1 Corinthians 13. Mick died Nov. 8, 2002. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mick; brother, Lawrence Chappell; step-mother, Margaret Chappell; granddaughter, Diana Maguire; grandson, Stuart Chase; and daughter-in-law, Mary Margaret Maguire. Survivors include: her children, Larry and Carol Maguire, Jerry and Vicki Maguire, and Sharon and David Chase, all of Logan; grandchildren, Kathy and Bill Lundergard, Woodbine; Ronda and Terry Oloff, Wayne and Lonnie Maguire, Michael and Kay Maguire, Matthew and Lanae Chase and Philip Chase, all of Logan; Douglas and Agnes Maguire of Hawaii; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Chase, Gavin, Madeline, GraceLynn, Aaron, Bryce and MaKenna Maguire, Brian and Brittany Lundergard and Colben and Campbell Chase; great-great-grandchildren, Maggie, Dylan and RaeLynn Maguire. Funeral Services were held Apr. 2 at the Christian Church, Logan, Pastor Ron Riley, officiant. Heavenly Greeters were: the late Diana Maguire and Stuart Chase. Musician was Rick Powell. Honorary Bearers were: Ronda Oloff, Kathy Lundergard, Brian Lundergard, and Douglas Maguire. Casket Bearers were: Philip Chase, Joseph Maguire, Brittany Lundergard, Wayne Maguire, Matthew Chase, and Michael Maguire. Interment was in Bethel Cemetery, Logan Logan Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
