Baker and Rillie May Crooks OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, October 9, 1919 ZORA E. BAKER Zora Ellen Baker, daughter of William and Rillie May Baker, was born March 24, 1897, near Norwood, Lucas county, Iowa, and where she lived the greater part of her life. She removed with the family to Lamoni, where she resided until August, 1919, when she went to South Dakota, near Rapid City, where she intended to teach school. She procured a school and had taught one week. On Monday, the 29th of September, on her way to school, she was taken suddenly sick with a vital affliction of the kidneys and died at 12:30 o'clock, Tuesday morning, Sept. 30, aged 22 years, 6 months and 6 days. The body was brought to Lacona October 2. She was baptized a member of the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints, in Warren county, by Elder John F. Garver, July 14, 1912, of which she was a member to the time of her decease. She died in hopes of the glorious rest and the Resurrection of the Just. She leaves to mourn her father, William Baker; one sister, Edna E., four uncles and four aunts, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Killen, Mr. and Mrs. George Baker, Mr. and Mrs. M. T. Baker, and Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Quinn, and one grandmother, Mrs. S. A. Crooks, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted by Brother Scott, of Lamoni, October 3, at 2 o'clock and the remains were laid to rest in the Graceland cemetery by the side of her mother.
