Read More	The Seymour Herald - 4 June 1987 -------------------------------- Zora Lee Rash was born August 16, 1902 in Newtown, Missouri, one of 14 children born to Albert and Ida Thomas Rash. He departed this life May 29 1987 at the Golden Age Care Center, Centerville, Iowa at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 13 days. Although he had maintained a home in Seymour for many years, he was currently residing in the Golden Age Care Center in Centerville, Iowa. Zora and Myral Hardy Rash were loving parents of five children: Lee William, Norma Flowers of Centerville; Richard of Des Moines; Max of Seymour and Beverly Lotridge of Hensley, Arkansas. Joining the family in their mourning are brothers, John of California and Iris of Des Moines; in-laws, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, one step-great-grandson and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Lee William, and 11 brothers and sisters. Most of Zora's life was spent in Appanoose and Wayne Counties where he worked the coal mines. In later years, he painted buildings (barns and houses). In retirement, he enjoyed taking care of his home and observing the happenings in the neighborhood from his porch swing or rocking chair by the window. He was especially fond of small children--as they were of him. Services were held Sunday, May 31, 1987 at 2 p.m. from the Randolph Funeral Home, Seymour, Iowa with Rev. Don Kraps officiating. "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Ivory Palaces" were sung by Milton Albertson accompanied by Iris Merritt. Pallbearers were grandsons, Greg and Kim Rash, friends, Wesley Inskeep, Kenneth Johnston, Phil Johnston and John Merritt. Interment was in the Southlawn Cemetery. There was a memorial to the Seymour Library. CARD OF THANKS Thanks to all who attempted to make our loss easier with kind thoughts and deeds, prayers, cards, memorials, flowers and food. We would like to thank the dedicated nursing staff at the Golden Age Care Center and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for a job well done. --The family of Zora Rash
