Description	:	1816 Childhaven Rd NE, Cullman, AL Cemetery is inside a chain linked fence on the grounds of Childhaven about 100 yards to the left of the main building parking lot. Construction of the four-story structure of the Alabama Odd Fellows Home was begun in 1909 and dedicated on 15 Apr 1910. In December 1909 sixty children moved in and by 1923 they were housing 97. The property consisted of 250 acres, of which 200 was in cultivation mostly to supply the Home. Construction of the four-story structure of the Alabama Odd Fellows Home was begun in 1909 and dedicated on 15 Apr 1910. In December 1909 sixty children moved in and by 1923 they were housing 97. A letter written in 1912 by Superintendent Ed B Miller states that he expects to market $1000 in strawberries that season, in addition to what will be used at the home. L N Buell, buried in this cemetery, had an article published in the Cullman Tribune, issue of 1 Jan 1914, concerning the beginnings of the Alabama Odd Fellows Home. After Cullman was chosen as the location, a Board of Trustees was elected consisting of John Ellis of Anniston, L N Buell of Brighton, John Woodrow of Birmingham, T B McNaron of Albertville and Robert E Lee of Cullman. He states, “The board took active charge and soon had plans adopted for the erection of a building or buildings sufficient to accommodate the orphan children and the aged sisters and brothers of the Order in the State.” Since it’s opening, “over 130 boys and girls have been admitted into the Home, also a number of old men and women. At this writing there are nearly one hundred children and several old folks sheltered within its folds. Two graves mark the Home cemetery, but four deaths have occurred, two of these beyond help when admitted.” Mrs A B Bell is recorded in this cemetery as having died in 1913. Since Mr Buell stated on 1 Jan 1914 that there had been two graves in the cemetery, the other one must be unmarked.
